Bluebells Research

Want to know more about the research behind my recent novella Bluebells? Read on!

These are some of the photographs I took in 2021 from the town of Berrima which features in Bluebells.

Harper’s Mansion which is the fictional ancestral home of Anna and Peter Baylon in Bluebells, is one of the older houses in the Berrima and, positioned on a hilltop overlooking the town as described in the novella.

The building which now functions as a cafe and gallery, is how I imagined the general store belonging to Robert Chilton.

The jail in Berrima is one of the oldest constrictions built to house convicts and also built by convicts – many of the sandstone quarried bricks bear engravings a from the convict who was forced to build the jail.
